Good vibes and fun times at the Grand Opening event!

Thanks to all that were able to make it to the official Thien Lake Acupuncture  Grand Opening event this past Saturday! It was great to celebrate with friends and family and meet our new neighbors and show you our new clinic! 



As requested, here are the recipes for the FOOD IS MEDICINE menu and teas served our Grand Opening party!


Longevity Porridge

Good for blurred vision, dizziness, tinnitus, decreased breast milk, blacken grey hairs, constipation, and boosting energy after serious illness.




  • 1 cup millet
  • 1 cup black sesame seeds
  • 6 cups of water
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • Garnish: sesame seeds, dried mulberries, & crystallized ginger


  1. Toast black sesame seeds on stovetop just until slightly aromatic (about 1-2 mins)
  2. Blend sesame seeds & millet in blender with 3 cups of water.  Add more water as needed
  3.  Add remaining water & sesame/millet blend into soup pot and simmer at medium heat for at least 30 minutes or until desired consistency is reached being sure to stir consistently.  If mixture is too thick add more water.  
  4. Porridge should look shiny and lump free when ready.  Add honey.
  5. Serve immediately with garnish on top.


Golden Spice Cauliflower

Good for cancer prevention, inflammation, arthritis, pain, nosebleeds, gallstones, anxiety.


  • 2 heads of cauliflower chopped into bite sized pieces
  • 1 cup of “day old” cooked quinoa
  • ¼ cup of chopped onion
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 whole lemon
  • ½ tablespoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • ¼ cup of coconut oil melted
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 2 cups of arugula


  1. For crispy quinoa, line baking sheet with parchment paper and add thin layer of quinoa.  Season with salt and pepper and place under broiler in oven for approximately 5-7 min or until golden brown.  Careful not to burn as quinoa will continue to crisp as it cools.  Set aside.
  2. Toss cauliflower, onion, garlic, turmeric, cumin, coconut oil, and salt & pepper into a baking dish ensuring an even distribution of seasonings and back at 400 degrees for 45 min or until tender.
  3. Toss arugula with lemon & avocado oil. 
  4. Place arugula at the bottom of the serving dish with cauliflower on top.  Garnish with crispy quinoa.  Serve immediately. 


Earth Building Barley

Good for weight loss, edema, diarrhea, digestive disorders, joint pain, muscle spasms, nausea, low appetite, decreased energy.



  • 3 cups dried pearled barley, also called Job’s Tears found in asian markets 
  • 8 cups of water
  • 1 crisp fuji apple chopped
  • ½ cup chopped carrots
  • 2 tablespoons minced scallion
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • 1 whole lemon
  • ¼ cup cold pressed extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar
  • Salt & pepper to taste


  1. Rinse barley in cold water until water runs clear.  Soak for 2 hours.
  2. After soaking drain and rinse barley and to a soup pot with water, cooking at high temperature until boiling.  Cover then reduce to medium-low heat and cook for 45 mins or until tender.  Drain and set aside.
  3. In a serving bowl add apple, carrots, scallion, garlic, parsley, lemon, EVOO, apple cider vinegar and cooked barley.  
  4.  Add salt and pepper to taste.
  5.  Serve warm or room temperature.


Sugar-free Coconut Almond Orbs:

Coconut flour, almond flour, almond butter, coconut oil, unsweetened shredded coconut, stevia extract.  Good for cookie cravings, stabilizing blood sugar, regulating cholesterol, supporting heart health, chronic cough, phelgm, glowing skin.


  • 1 cup unsweetened almond butter
  • ¼ cup almond flour
  • ¼ cup coconut flour
  • 4 tablespoons coconut milk
  • 4 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
  • 6-10 drops of stevia extract or to taste
  • ½ cup shredded unsweetened coconut


  1. Add a heaping tablespoon of shredded coconut into a bowl and set aside.
  2. Knead and mix well with hands almond butter, almond flour, coconut flour, coconut milk, coconut oil, stevia, and remaining shredded coconut in a bowl until well combined.  Taste and add more stevia until desired sweetness reached.
  3. Mold into bite size balls then roll into shredded coconut.
  4. Refrigerate for 30 min then serve.


Stress Relief Tea

Chrysanthemum, goji berry, field mint.  Treats stress and anxiety by regulating Qi flow & circulation. Cools and calms anxiety. Nourishes blood for red eyes, infertility, anemia, migraines.



Perilla leaves, ginger, raw honey, lemon.  Treats immune system for cold/flu prevention, morning sickness from pregnancy, food poisoning, stomach flu, allergies, stuffy nose, cough, chills, low appetite.

Caffeine-free Ener-Tea

Astragalus root, jujube, cinnamon.  Treats fatigue, sagging skin, inhibits herpes outbreaks, dermatitis, chemotherapy side effects, asthma, diabetes prevention.
